Merry Christmas.. :D I downloaded Anne of Green Gables from this site. It shows up on my Axim when I open Microsoft Reader. When I click on Anne in the library of MR, it says, "Microsoft Reader is no longer able to access the book." When I do a file search there it is at 380.3K. Please help if you know how I can open and read the story. I have tried activating and unactivating reader.. No go... :(
Downloaded Frankenstein from another site and the book opened just fine. Perhaps the Ann of Green Gables .lit is corrupted or I just got a corrupted copy. ;)
I donwloaded 3 free ebooks. They are currently in the Microsoft Reader on my laptop's hard drive. How do I transfer them to my AXIM? I did an ACTIVE SYNC and opened the reader but no books.

Open Activesync on the laptop, Click on Explore, Go to the folder where you want the books to be (My documents is a good place, or My documents on a storage card). Leave that window open (I'll call it the Axim window). Now back on the laptop, open windows explorer and go to where the .lit files are stored. Drag and drop them from the desktop window to the Axim window. They should now show up in Reader on the Axim.
I'm not sure if it's the right way to do it, but I have had success by copying the *.lit file into the folder that syncs everytime that ActiveSync does it's thing. To do this you need to make sure that you have ActiveSync set up to synchronize files. Launch ActiveSync on your laptop then go to Options and make sure to check the box beside the Files option. ActiveSync will create a folder on your laptop that is then synced to the device every time that ActiveSync runs. Just copy the *.lit file into this folder (on your laptop) and after the next sync, Microsoft reader should see the file on the Axim device.

Anne of Green Gables must be currupt. I too downloaded it from this site and get the error saying, "Microsoft Reader is no longer able to access the book."

You might want to send it to a file entitled e-books. I have over 90 MB of e-books on my memory card, and I learned that there is a limit of folders on the memory card, but not on files within folders. Also, Microsoft reader will find the files no matter where they are put within your PPC.

I had this kind of messages. I found out that my "brand new" Axim X5 had to have its reader software updated to 2.2.2 version so as to be able to read some books. Try downloading an update at Microsoft site. unfortunatelly I just found out on another thread that 2.2.2 reader resides on RAM (Thread name: reader is BIG). Anyway it worked after update!
Try it.
Make sure that after you download the newest version of reader that you go in and make a shortcut for it in your start menu. You do this because the icon under "programs" activates the version of reader that came with your Axim, not the new one. Creating a shortcut solves that problem.
I would also suggest trying another ebook and seeing if it works.
Also, you mentioned having a "no-go" with activation. If this means you coudn't activate, try activation from another computer. Otherwise, make sure you do the shortcut trick.
