I'm not quite a newbie, but couldn't find a better place on the forum to post my inquiry.

I bought a used jornada 568 on ebay for dirt cheap because it was messed up and I thought I could fix it. However, they didn't properly describe the condition.

Here's what happens:

power up, blue screen that says HR 0001, then it asks me if I want to erase all data in the ram, if I select no, it procedes to the HP screen, then nothing from that point on. If I select yes, it procedes to the HP logo, then I see the little Win CE 'loading symbol', but it only shows up for a seccond, then it dissapears and I get an all-white screen. You know, the Win CE equivilent of the hourglass on regular windows.

Any Ideas?

I have yet to open the unit up because it uses the little hex screws that companies install as a minor copyright protection. And I do not have drivers small enough for it.

Don't Panic!

Have you tried a hard reset? On the Jornada 568 you do that by removing the Main and Backup batteries for 5 minutes.

Yep, both hard and soft resets, nothing.

Ok, now on to the question of how to fix it?

have you tried talking to hp I found that they have good customer service in the past with my jornada 540 they may have a rom update you can use and if you have another pocket pc put the rom update onto a cf card put it into your hp and do a hard reset if its like the axim it should load the rom update from the cf card
never tried this but its worth the try
