X50v came in the mail!!!

And now I have to wait 8 hours before I can touch it.

What is up with that? You guys could have mentioned that prior to my ordering. :(

Kind of like giving an junky some junk and telling him to wait half a day.....no good.

I am reallye excited though! Any recommendations of what I should do first, other than installing the CD software of course.

Congrats, Malix!

I'd begin to consider what software to install. The VGA Optimized list that is stickied to the X50 forum would be a good place to start.

Congrats on your new toy. Some say you need to charge for 8 hr,some don't.I would do what ever Dell recomemends. The 8 hr charge time will allow you to read your manual and serf the board for any questions you come up with by reading the manual. When I got my Axim I installed every freeware program I could find, big mistake. After a couple of hard resets I checked the forums to see what programs were recommended and installed only what was really usefull to me.Enjoy and good luck.

Well software choices seem the way to go.

What programs do you guys use on a daily bases? Also I have read about some programs that make the x50v true VGA but have some other problems. Are these worth using?

The first thing I would do is use the Search function on this site. Anything you can think of has most likely been covered. Your question about VGA is all over the place. My personal recomendation is give it a try without anything like that and see what you think. I for one like it better "As Is". There is also a bunch of threads about "Best software" and "Best today screens" and about a million about the 8 hours as well. You can save youself some trouble and download ActiveSync 3.8 form the Microsoft mobile site if that is not the version you got on the disk.

Congrats on your new Axim. Enjoy!

First thing to do with your new toy: calm down.
There is a good 90% chance that it will work perfectly without any problem at all. Just relax, try some software, and enjoy :approve:
You'll really like it.

After a while, you'll have some questions. Use the search function on this site (by far the most usefull site for Axims) and if you have some remaining questions, post them here. We'll be glad to help. Mainly because we're addicted and we can't leave this place !!!

Yeah, don't let all the "bad" posts scare you. Just keep in mind more people post when then have a problem then when they don't. Thank goodness, I can hardly keep up as it is. If everyone posted "Install was fine" or "Everything going good". There would be 10 million posts a day. :) I am sure everything will be just fine with your Axim. Like it was said before, if you find somthing that you need help with just ask. Take care~

Well I sit down on the couch and start running through things. I am completely amazed how sweet this is. I click on the wifi and it automaticly finds my wireless network and I am suring in seconds. Too cool!!!!!!!! I am now in the process of doing the a02 update and putting some software on it from frenchies other thread. I will keep you guys up to date but so far I am impressed.

And no my house did not blow up upon hooking up to my puter. Guess I am lucky so far.

If you just got it yesterday, shouldn't it already have the a02 rom?

Start -> settings -> Systems tab -> System information.

It should say what ROM version you have. no need to upgrade if you have it already...

Also, to aximsite!

Thanks CRX, You are absolutely correct.

I can chalk that one up to some practice for the next upgrade that I do need!

I have had some good fun with this so far. WIFI works great, FM modular works really good as well. I need to find a freeware program that will help me manage my file explorer, it stinks having to go in and use this to find or close things. Any suggestions?

A good one, and free:
Total Commander

But be aware that this kind of questions have already been asked a zillion times, and don't forget that SEARCH is your friend. People here don't like to repeat each time the same things. You could have some angry answers
