IMHO Rob was simply doing others a service of demonstrating two things: a well organized (and therefore potentially more helpful to others) MyPDA section and the sort of results one can achieve with regard to customizing an instrument that is used daily and is often seen by others (this could be helpful in many situations such as those involving business contacts...though perhaps in subtle ways) I found his posting to be very illuminating since I am also interested in "pushing the envelope" of what one can do with PDAs....
I do not understand the apparent animosity that has developed in this thread...IMHO it is really inappropriate......Frankly I believe it needs to stop but that is simply the opinion of one who values harmony over discord and mutual respect over needs to attack one another.....etc....
I agree with that. My point is that he got very defensive when i mentioned a point of view that differed from his own. I too found the posting illuminating... for example i found out what ilauncher does, as well as a couple of other programs.
However, i took issue with being attacked as some kind of intolerent PDA hate monger, because i think it is overkill. Everyone in this thread was chiming in with their opinion. I add mine, and just because it differs from his, he attacks me. THEN what really made me clock out, was that he questioned my legitimate use of "to each his own." at the end. That was meant to point out, that while i don't agree, i don't see a problem with it.
The only thing that was obvious to me, was that he wanted to hear only from people whose opinions were the same as his own.
Now that i have vented, i feel better. ;)
No blood, no foul. we all are axim family here.
;) ;) would i be starting a flame war if i said that the response sounded like a typical Democrat "we are tolerant, as long as your opinions match ours." ;) ;)

I'll let the political comment slide.
I really was only asking for peoples opinions on how my View MyPDA page looked, not how my Axim looked. I want my "View MyPDA" page to be something that is useful to others. I am very open to suggestions on how to make it better.
On the other hand my Axim is set up the way it is because it is personal, it's mine....and in my mind doesn't have to live up to anyone elses standards or preferences.
There!!!! see!! he admits he was wrong!! Just kidding. ;)
I apologize too. i guess overreacting is going around this time of year.

I suspect that you are right....for some reason, this time of year is replete with tensions of various kinds. ...... I also suspect that if we were all sitting around a table at the same time discussing the matter F2F IRL, the results would be different.....

Thanks for your in work on that page.

Thanks Wrangler. Try WordNetCE . It does what you are looking for. I have been looking in my programs folder, BIS, and storage card and cannot for the life of me find where I installed NoteM. Perplexing:scratch_h I am sure it can be installed anywhere you want to put it though. You can map the notes recorder button to NoteM and it starts up recording.
Rob,
I am thinking about getting WA2, but I was wondering about something....I use PI 5x (the newest version) and like it a lot! Does PI work with WA2 being present at the same time? I thought I saw a post somewhere heere saying that there were compatibility problems...Do you know anything about this issue? (or for that matter does anyone else here know!!!)
TIA
David

There was a problem with an earlier version of WA2 and PI, but that has since been fixed. There are no problems between them now that I know of.
Yep, WA2 latest and PI 5.6.1 work fine on my x50v. Buzzard over at the Lakeridge forums has just posted his XP skin set and I must say, they are fantastic.

Ty Rob,
For posting your ViewMyPDA information. I am waiting on my axim x30H to arrive later this month and am new to pda's. I wish to become much more knowledgeable in the pda applications and this is a great site for troubleshooting, and learning. Thanks again for sharing the usefulness of the axim x30.
Wowowowow.. You guys have some great PDA's. Since I got my Axim, all I have put on it are MP3's, Snails and Arvale, betaplayer and a Telenet Program. Those programs look very nice. I have a few questions if you don't mind. Do all those programs slow down your PDA at all, or require more soft reboots. How smooth do they install and such. I guess I haven't really done to much with my PDa cause I'm scared I might installing something it doesn't like How much did most of that cost? Is PDA software pretty cheep? I have tried to look for some freeware stuff, but most of it does not look to stable, so I haven't tried them. With those weather programs, does it auto-update when you connect to a wi-fi network and/or your Active Sync?
That pocketBreeze seems to be on everyone PDA, I might look more into that. Your PDA link is very helpful, I'll have to really sit down and look over those programs and see what could work for me. I'm rambling now.. thanks for your post. :)

You are welcome calin. I am always looking for suggestions to make it better. I am glad it is a help to you. Welcome to Aximsite.

I haven't noticed much of a slowdown. I have a 1gb card and install most everything there that doesn't need to be in the main memory.
As for the soft resets, I do them a few times a day just to free up memory, so I don't know how much I really need to soft reset.
I have never had any problems installing any of the software I have, and I have installed both through a windows installer with activesync and directly installing on the Axim with the cab file.
There is always a possibility that anyone may install something that conflicts with the Axim or another program on it. That is why it is always important to do regular backups, either with the built in utility or with activesync or both.

How much did most of that cost? Is PDA software pretty cheap? I have tried to look for some freeware stuff, but most of it does not look too stable, so I haven't tried them.
All the commercial software I have cost a total of about $40.00. I haven't had any problems with any of the freeware I have listed.

PocketWeather does update itself with an internet connection. I believe most of the weather programs do.

PocketBreeze is an excellent software that I would recommend to anyone. It allows you to see and edit all your PIM info right on the today screen without having to open the pims themselves. The program is A1, as is the support that comes with it.

Thanks, and you are welcome. BTW....Welcome to Aximsite. This is the best place on the internet as far as I'm concerned to find the answers you are looking for.
