After visiting this site for a few weeks and reading all I can about the Axim models, I finally decided that it´s time to retire my Palm m105 (yes, you read that right, and I still use it everyday) and get a X50v. Now for my questions:
1) I´ve found "new" (at least they say NOT REFURBISHED) Axims on ebay going for about $100 cheaper than from Dell.com. Is it worth spending the extra money to get it straight from Dell? What advantages are there?
2) If I do decide to order direct from Dell, would you recommend I get the Limited Warranty and/or the Completecare Accidental Service? Either way, why?
3) I´m pretty rough on my gadgets. I´m leaning towards ordering the Rhinoskin hard case from Dell. Any comments pro or con? Any suggestions on other similar cases?
4) I´m also thinking of getting the presentation bundle from Dell. Anyone here use it? Does it work? Any comments? Does anyone recommend third-party substitutions that´ll work in pretty much the same way?
This community seems very helpful and eager to share opinions and past experiences, I trust I´ll gain some great insights from your answers. Thanks in advance.
welcome to the site.
1. I purchased my x30 from eBay, and have not had any problems. But I would think it would all depend on the eBay seller. Some are good, some are not. When you want to save a few bucks, sometimes you just have to take a chance. The warranty is transferrable, at any rate.
2. This question is answered by your third question. If you are hard on your toys, go for the biggest, bestest warranty.
3. My X30 has the rhinoskin aluminum case. It works well and is really durable. BUT, my X50v has the innopocket magnesium case. This case rocks, looks cool, and the lid flips right out of the way. This case in awesome. (in other words, for the x50, get the innopocket case)
4. No idea how it works or runs. Can't help you there.
Hope this helps you. Visit people's "view my pda" to get ideas about thier Axims. Check the links in my signature for some help, or check out the tutorial area.

1) Just remember your ebay buyer MUST be willing to transfer warranty. If they dont want to then dont buy it from them. Or else you'll end up having to contact that ebay buyer constantly to get a problem fixed. I personally will recommend buying from Dell more. Especially right now with the deals going on. Its not that much more expensive then the ebayer ppl.
2) Get the complete care. PDA's are things that are prone to being dropped. You just want that peace of mind :)
3) Is the Innopocket aluminum case the same one as the Rhino case? From the pictures it seems the same. BUT from the reviews I am getting different impression. But basically dont get the Rhino from Dell. Go buy Innopocket Alum case from aximcases.com. They offer a aximsite member only discount and the case comes out alot cheaper then what Dell offers. (My bro has this case, and I really think its great)
4) I've heard of the Margi systems but personally never used it before. Now what I would recommend is for you to get the pda first test it out see if you really like it and then get the Margi systems at a later time.

1. Buy from Dell
2. Go for as much as you can witin your budget
3. I had Rhino, so-so, it even busted. Scope out other mags. for a really stronger case
4. Go to www.handago.com and similar sites and be very critical of what will work for you.
4) The presentation bundle is basically clearvue software plus a cable. The cable you can get from PC-mobile for about $29. Check out this link for an alternative.
Thanks to everybody for the responses. I feel a lot more confident spending the cash now. I'm going to go with Dell.com for the actual PDA, and I'll checkout those other links for the other stuff. I'll let everyone know when my new x50v arrives :)
