I need a decent dictionary. I have trouble spelling and I could use a good one. All I see is for sale. They cost more than the paper backs. any free ones out there?

Dictionaries
Try looking at this site and use one of these. They work through MS Reader as a standalone or use them as the lookup within a program. And best of all, they are free.http://www.microsoft.com/reader/down...ctionaries.asp

Will it work alone?
I dont use ms reader. Will it work like a spell checker? I'm wanting something that i can scroll through and find a word by comming close.
example:
di...
dic..
dict.....
diction.....
dictionary

or like flipping through a websters.

I downloaded the link you gave. it put a .lit in the file i chose. Now what. Do i drag , copy, paste?
sorry for being so new!

The MS reader dictionary is very nice, but if you want to look up a word in stand-alone mode, it is v-e-r-y s-l-o-w. I finally gave up and bought Lectionary ( http://www.revolution.cx ). But these days, I find I really do most writing at my PC, so I don't use it as much as I thought I would. There are plenty of other dictionaries, but I don't know of any decent free ones.
