The feature sets overlap but they are not the same.
Pocket Plus has a task manager with the ability to close programs but also gives you today plugins for monitoring memory, battery life, and storage card capacity. There is also an application launcher.
WA2 gives you a task manager and a cascading Start Menu similar to WinXP. It too gives monitoring icons but they appear in the Title Bar and not on the Today screen.
It also gives you the ability to skin the entire PPC interface.
You can run both programs but you should disable the Task managing capabilities of SPB (You should never run two task mangers -- it is a waste of resources and a conflict just waiting to happen).
I myself run WA2 along with Battery Pack, a very similar program to SPB Pocket Plus.
Still a newbie here, running an Axim 30 624Mhz etc. etc.
1.) Does SPB Pocket Plus do the same thing as WisBar Advance 2 ?
2.) If so can you run both programs, which do you prefer ?
3.) I have Pocket Plus (Full Version) and just recently loaded a trial version of WisBar 2 and I have noticed things running slower.
Any comments pro or con will be much appreciated.
Thanks,
John
1. nope.
2. I run both and really dig the interface now, makes the axim more fun to use.
3. They do take up resources but anything you put on here will take up memory one way or the other. I tried a bunch of programs and whittled down to these for the interface, make sure you have the lateset version of both(wisbar has spotty older versions that can run weird).

I like to run SPB pocket plus. It has features such as multiple windows in IE, and folder features too. When I had Wisbar Advance 2, the axim seemed to slow down quite a bit. So I junked Wisbar and just kept Pocket plus.

I have both running and so far no issues. In addition I have SPB Clock and Weather also running (weather can run standalone or as an add in to SPB Pocket Plus).
I just recently downloaded the Navigator skin suite that utilizes both Wisbar Advanced 2 and SPB Pocket Plus (plus some other apps I just don't have). It looks nice and works well so far. Check it out at http://www.kolumbus.fi/anders.ruohio/navigator.html
I have to agree with CRXGSR on this one... both SPB Pocket Plus and Wisbar caused trouble on my Axim too. Even though I had the latest versions it slowed down and became quite unstable.
I'm a big fan of Pocket Plus - great all in one type of program for me.
I can live without skinning and cascading tool bars
I think it should be mentioned that WA2 is still undergoing beta testing.
And not to insult anyone but the horrible lack of documentation for WA2 often results in user errors that can usually be overcome quite easily.

Can someone please tell me how to disable Pocket Plus Task managing?
To open Spb Pocket Plus options applet: go to
Start menu select Settings tap on Personal
tab select Today item tap on Items tab
select Pocket Plus in the list tap on Options…
I tried both but decided to keep PocketPlus. Doesnt slow down my Axim like WA2. :approve:

gjw,
Is this a reply to Boxerdad's question about disabling Pocket Plus task management? If so, I don't have a Close Button to select based on your instructions. I did look at the manual and am still a bit confused about how to disable the task management function. Sorry to everyone if I'm playing dumb here.

Those were the instructions that I found on their website.
I tried the program months ago and quickly got rid of it so I'm afraid I can't be of further help.

In settings, go to the Systems Tab. Then choose SPB Pocket Plus. That's where you should see Close Button as an option. Just uncheck it.
SPB seems to use a little more memory since it has to be loaded in main memory. But Wisbar seems to slow things down quite a bit, plus everything is beta that actually works. Thanks for the link http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/pro...er%20Manual.pdf
SPB has to be commended for having documentation that is more than most have.

I agree with CRXGSR as well. Even the latest beta ofWisbar seemed to slow down my Axim X30 high. I am sticking with SPB Pocket Plus.
