Getting online

Some more newbie questions about getting online:

1) Can I connect to my internet at home? I have an external DSL modem. I was wondering b/c I have heard of some programs like Pocket Weather....if I connect to my home internet, can I download a weeks worth of weather, for example?
2) Do I need a modem card (it doesn't come with X30 high does it?)
3) Can I get connected wirelessly anywhere? Do you pay for internet with a provider just like at home? Who are the carriers? (I live in Ottawa, Canada)
I just don't quite understand how it works.

THANKS GUYS!

Try http://wifi.aximsite.com/ for starters..

(Just thought I'd mention that font looks very hard to read on my screen... a normal font would be so much nicer)

Thanks guys....so I just read it and my head is slightly spinning. So from what I gather:

1)I have an X30 high so pretty much everything I need is set up in it
2) I need to buy something called a Router so that the wireless in my PPC will connect with my computer (via my external DSL modem)
3)I won't need to pay extra in use my home internet on my PPC...I'm basically just networking into it.

Is that right? Frenchy I know you know the best router to get. (I do not need much distance, we live in a 1 bedroom apartmment!) lol

Oh yeah, and I also need to set up my Windows XP to acknowledge the router (which there seems to be pretty clear instructions on)
Do I got it?
:-)

Yes, you need a wireless router.

A router basically is able to split the internet connection between multiple computers. A wireless one, allows the internet connection to be broadcast wirelessly to devices such as your X30.

I don't think you'll have to configure anything on your XP end. Just plug the ethernet cable in, and it should work.

However, you should configure your router with a password so that neighbors and passer byers don't steal your bandwidth. It's all in the wifi guide link stated earlier.
