X5 Low on memory (32MB)? Options

I have a X5 (32MB) that I use for sat nav/speed cameras and not much else.

On ocassion the x5 crashes or is low on memory (i.e maybe less than 0.5mb free when running the software) and requires a soft reset each day before running the software.

I have a GPS receiver with the lead to fit the X5 - therefore this is a consideration when considering "the next step"

I assume that I cant "add" memory to the X5 (or share the compact flash memory as program memory?). What are my options? Stick to x5? Keep to Dell? or replace the lot?

The X5 does every thing I need, exept for being a bit tight on memory, so I want to keep costs as low as possible.

Any suggestions?

Welcome to AximSite.

My best advice is to install non-today screen plug-ins to you BIS or memory cards. This is the general rule that most people here use.

You should have a look in the tutorial section in software for the Memory Help for Newbies article. It is a good read and you might discover something you didn't know.

Cheers

The PDA does not have any software installed except the nav stuff. I guess the only solution is to buy a new PDA with 64meg ram?

Does only the X5 share the same connector, or is it connector common to all dell pdas?

Where did you install the Nav stuff? Unless the manufacture says otherwise you should probably install it to your SD or CF card (whichever you have).

Which connector are we talking about? The one at the bottom that plugs into the cradle? I am not sure I am sorry.
