Newbie question - swapping batteries!

Hi everyone! You all have been so fast and helpful in answering my "newbie" questions, I totally appreciate it! My latest question concerns the battery for my X30 mid. I am thinking of ordering the PDair Case with the extended battery (1800mAH) from aximcases.com. If I do, I'm assuming that when I get the battery, I just swap it with the one I have now and charge it for 8 hours? Will swapping the battery be the same as a "hard reset"? With the old battery (the one it came with), should I keep it on hand in case the new one dies? Should I keep it charged? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Not it won't hard-reset if you do it right away. The axim as a backup battery good for about 30mins. So as long as you do it within that time, no hard-reset would perform.

Well I'm not sure about that charging procedure. If it was the Dell Battery I'd say yes 8 hours should do it. But there was something about charging then discharging and charging again for third-party batteries that I really don't understand but evidently is part of the directions you receive.

Monalua,
If you have a cradle, just drop your new battery in the rear slot overnight. That way you can still carry your Ax around with you...
If not, then swap the new battery for the old and plug your sync-charge cable in (Axim turned off) for about 8 hours or so. Remember, you can't overchrage the battery.
You may see some increase in battery run-time after a few charge-discharge cycles.
And yes, carry the old battery around if you can - if not, one day you'll wish you had
But remember, even if you don't use it, the spare will gradually loose charge. I rotate by batteries at least once a week whether I need to or not, just to make sure I have plenty of juice.
