Arrow Experiences with warranty? :)

Hi
my new Axim X30 (the 624mhz model) arrived yesterday, my first PDA and I think i'v made the right decision, mainly brought it as a GPS solution along with tomtom 5 s/w but maybe i'll discover useful features of it as a PDA.

Anyway, I took out a 2 year warranty on it (2 year next business day exchange), I just wanted to ask if any of you have used this service, I have heard some bad things about dell support and I can still cancel my warranty if needed (have 45 days or something), I mean have any of you ever needed to phone dell and make a claim on an extended warranty?, if so how was the service.

Any experiences of other members will be very appreciated, I brought the 2 year cover as I spent quite a lot of money on the PDA and want it to last at least 2 years! (hopefully a lot longer) however if the worst does happen I need to know dell stand by there warranties properly.

Thx a lot guys :)

All I know is the person on the phone never said anything about a refurbished Axim. And I have read that plenty have recieved refurb merchandise. I asked and they specifically told me BRAND NEW. I am goig to pitch a fit if something happens and I get a refurb POS.

It clearly says on the website that they may send you out a refurbished unit. I would not accept what they say on the phone, I think it's naive to think that they won't just tell you what they want to make the sale.

I've used my warranty with Dell on my X5 in the past a few times with mixed results. As a rule, the service from Dell Canada was very weak. But it's quite clear that they may send out refurbished product so I have no issue with that at all.

I'd probably be pretty pissed if a sales rep lied to me about that and I was sent a refurb. I would demand that they send me a new unit if that's what the sales rep told me they would do. If they refused, simply go over their head and ask for their supervisor.

The squeeky wheel gets the oil, especially when fraud is committed.

That doesn't change the fact that their sales person committed fraud by lying when advertising the product. License and user agreements don't justify breaking the law.

you see that's the problem with telephone calls... it's hard to verify them afterwards (unless you record all of your conversations and tell the person that you are recording them)...

It could be a simple case of misunderstanding, in the first 3(?) weeks you'd get a new one, or maybe it's a misunderstanding between 'new' and 'brand new', or maybe the person on the end of the phone screwed up and made a mistake.

It's a lot harder to argue with what's written in black and white. So if this really is a deal breaker for you then you should resolve it with dell during whatever 'cooling off' period you have.
