Just got my new Axim today and have been playing with it most of the evening. Got my e-mail, wi-fi, sync settings, themes, and stuff all set up. So far, I love it.
One thing has been bugging me a little bit though. Is there some way to actually close programs when you're done with them? Whenever I check in the "Switcher Bar", I notice that all the programs I thought I closed with the "X" and "OK" circles are still open. The only way I can actually close these programs is by the "Exit Current Program" option.
I suppose this probably doesn't matter to some people, but I'm not a big fan of multitasking programs that I'm not even using.
Otherwise, I love this thing! Thanks ahead of time for any replies!
goto freewareppc.com and they have hundreds of freeware programs etc. there are lots of task switching that will actually close the programs. I just downloaded one called icbar and it seems to work really well after working with it and getting used to it. hope this helps
As Bulldog said, there are a lot of add on apps. I also have just started using icbar and it works very well and lets you customize a lot of other features on your Axim. Prior to that I used Wisbar, similar to icbar but with a few less features.
If you are not ready to start branching out with these second party applications, switcher bar itself will do what you want. If you add a shortcut for it to your startup folder, it will automatically load every time you do a soft reset. Just leave it on your menu bar. For the first couple of months I had it set up this way. You can use the upper right corner X to minimize a program or the switcher to completely close it.

When SB is NOT running, AS shuts down fine.
*shrug*
This is because when Switcher Bar is not running, and you hit the 'X' to close it....it is just hidden....still open in the background, but hidden from your sight. WinCE is built where the 'X' close button just minimizes or hides the applications. Some have said that this is because MS wants the apps to load faster for you, giving you the assumption that the PPC is faster. But in reality, it just slows it down, and I think it was just a bad "feature" that MS never fixed.
Switcher does work, but the thing that Icbar does better is to put a "Close Program" X on each line of the runing programs list. With Switcher, I had to open the app I wanted to close, to get it at the top of the list where I could use Exit Current Prog.
