VPN ( Virtual Private Network? ) on Axim 50v

Hi,
My school ( uni. of Houston) requires VPN to be able to connect to internet. They offer VPN for PC ( and laptop ) for free, but for PPC ( mine is 50v ), they charge 50$ to install a software ( I don't know what software it is, but it's 50$ :realmad: ) ... so I decided to do a little work here.
First, I downloaded the software for PC, then I looked at all the information from that software ( IP, Domain, Username and pass ... ). When I filled those info in PPC ( Setting/ Connection/ Add a new VPN... ), I still couldn't connect to the network. I have the username and pass ( that the IT guy told me that I had to use to connect to... ) ... I know I can connect to the network by just using the application that comes w/ my Axim ( because the IT guy I talked to gave me a 'trial' account while I was waiting for my account getting activated ... and I surfed the net w/o any problem .... )

Anyone has any idea on this ?
Thankssss ...

Do you know what kind of VPN they are using? Is it IPSec, PPTP, or SSL encryption?

If it is IPSec, there are only one or two clients out there that will work for you. SSL, I don't believe there are any, and PPTP, I believe there is only one, aside from the built in client on the Ax. You could just put a wireless card in your PC, connect to that, and use it's internet connection. That'd save you some of the hassle. Not sure if it would get you into trouble with the Network guys, though.

If you do go wireless like that, make sure you have a card that will work, use WPA and disable SSID broadcasts. That'll help keep it undetected by others (and, if you're being sneaky on it, probably the IT guys at the school, though I do recommend asking them if it is acceptable).

They are using IPSec/L2TP, and I also know that they are partner with Cisco. Would you please show me those 2 clients?
I don't worry much about security here, since this ppc is ony used for web surf and chatting....
Thanks ...

I'd speculate that they're using the Movian product and that's why they're charging $50.
