When I connected the sync connector to the power cable the Axim turned on and I quickly turned it off.

I read that the light is supposed to be amber on the power button but on mine there is no color that its charging for the frist time. The Sync connector does not seem to connect all the way with the Axim I tried pushing it in but it does not go all the way.

Any ideas? Is it charging?

I doubt it. Are you using some sort of case that is blocking the connector from going all the way on? Have you tried it on the cradle? The light should be amber when charging and turn green when it is done. If you dont have the ac adaptor then it will only charge when the pda is turned off. it isnt advisable to not use the ac adapter for the first charge as it will not charge longer than 7 hours and then stop.
