I'm posting this everywhere I can think of in hopes of any assistance I can get.

My Axim seems to be in sync with my laptop (connect and sync performs when I reconnect or request a sync). HOWEVER, whenever I try to use Explore (within Active Sync) I get a "Critical communication services have failed to start..." box. No amount of reconnecting and/or rebooting fixes the problem. I have started over (reset, reinstalled everything several times...nothing has worked. What else can I do.

I have gone through every forum I can find on the web to no avail. Now I can't seem to install any additional programs on the Axim.

Can you help?

You may want to do a soft reset on the Axim just to be safe. What OS are you running on your Laptop? Version ActiveSync? Worst case is that you might want to de-install ActiveSync on your laptop and reinstall from the Dell CD. OR, you might DL the ActiveSync 3.6 from the MS web site, if you haven't already. Take one step at a time and if all else fails, read the instructions.

Good luck...

Ciao,

Ron

It sounds like it should be working. Any chance you can get access to somebody elses PC w/ their cradle, and try it from there?
Unless your PC is fubar configuration-wise, it might be a bad connection at the sync plug ... either Ax or crib.
You said you reset. Hard reset? If so, don't restore, but rather start all over from scratch. New PPC name, partnership, etc.
