Hooking game boy advance sp's together

Hello! Since my son got his game boy advance sp for Christmas, my daughter wants one for her birthday :) They want to get the cable to hook them together and play against each other. My question is, do you have to have a game cartridge in each unit or just in one?

Thanks!

Depends. When I had a GBA (still do, just use DS) I would often play against people using one cart. Some games DO need all players to use the same cart though.

It does depend on the game.

Also, I'd recommend the cordless connection myself.

Since when did they come out with a wireless connection?!?!

I followed the GBA news up until the DS release, did they do it after that?

To bad too, I thought a wireless connection would be cool when I used my GBA actively.

I couldn't tell you when they came out with the wireless. But, it was only about $12 for each adapter and you don't have to worry about the kids pulling on the cables.

Update - I just did some checking. They came out with the wireless in 2004. That was three years before we bought the Grandkids their Game Boys. :)

the cordless sounds cool, but no one in my family has a GB but me, so it would be a waste of $ to get it.

I'm not sure all the games are compatible with the wireless setup. At least that is the way I read the nintendo site. Might be something to check on.

Only the following games support wireless connection:

* Boktai 2: Solar Boy Django
* Boktai 3: Sabata's Counterattack
* Classic NES Series:
o Donkey Kong (arcade game)
o Dr. Mario
o Ice Climber
o Pac-Man
o Super Mario Bros.
o Xevious
* Digimon Racing
* Dragon Ball Z: Buu's Fury
* The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age
* Mario Golf: Advance Tour
* Mario Tennis: Power Tour
* Mega Man Battle Network 5
* Mega Man Battle Network 6: Cybeast Falzar
* Mega Man Battle Network 6: Cybeast Gregar
* Pokémon Emerald
* Pokémon FireRed (Bundle with accessory)
* Pokémon LeafGreen (Bundle with accessory)
* Shrek SuperSlam

The Mario Golf and Tennis are real good. So are the Pokémon games. The Lord of the Rings game is rather good and the Botkai might be worth playing for their solar light sensor...
