In Ear Headphones

For Father's Day my wife said she would get me Bose In Ear Headphones. I heard them today and they sounded fantastic. What other headphones would anyone suggest?

Thanks!

Steve. Check out the V-Moda Vibe headphones. They are cheaper than the Bose and sound fantastic.

I just got Motorola S9 (bluetooth) they sound awesome.

I have been planning to do a review of them... at least an unboxing. I've already taken all the pics.

I wouldn't mind something decent to use with my Zen Vision M. The ones they supply get a bit uncomfortable for my dainty ears.

I have the Bose and love them. I got them around Christmas. The only complaint was the ear gels did not stay attached to the headphones. I lost one on a flight a couple weeks ago. Bose has recognized the problem and has shipped replacements to the stores. I picked up a replacement set at a Bose shop in the airport.

For top end "money is no object" type earbuds, the Shure line of products is good. Go to amazon, type in shure earbuds, and buy the most expensive one you can afford w/o selling organs.

In the realm of "value" priced earbuds, I really like my Koss set. They were ~$30 USD and sound great.

So many website forums say that Bose is just a marketing machine and not a true quality audio producer. To be sure, my car stereo is a bose and it is a pos. I think I'm getting the vmodas, but I would like to hear other opinions.

I disagree, but to each his own. Try some and buy what you like. Bose does have a thirty day trial.

I bought some Phillips from Walmart for about $30. They have a bit of noise cancellation (works pretty well) and sound great, at least to me.

I have a love hate relationship w/ Bose... their smaller stuff is quite good. Small home theater, bookshelf stereos, etc typically sound quite a bit better than similarly sized competion (but to be fair, you often pay quite a bit more too). Where bose really starts losing out is in larger gear. Large home theater, PA systems, performance systems, etc... you typically are getting ripped off if you're buying bose. I can't really comment on their headphones cause I've never heard them.

I looked at the shure buds but went with the Ultimate Ears.

Another great set to consider.

for a great return of audio for the $$ you pay, I'd suggest the MylarOne XB's ($57.00). They are not as "fun" - as boomy and full, or "muddy" in the lower ranges as the Vibes, but are much more clearer and detailed in the bass. The Vibes do not seal very well because of the lack of a vent hole, but they are comfortable.

The Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5Pro's (around $170.00) are an excellent choice, as well as the Futuresonic Atrio M5 (can be had for $130.00 on ebay), if you don't mind paying a little extra.....
