Archos 605 WIFI Won't Accept 26-Character WEP Encryption Key

I am using 128-bit WEP encryption for my wireless network at home. It requires a 26-character encryption key. When I try to connect my Archos 605 WIFI to the network, it will accept only a 13-character encryption key. According to the user manual for the 605, it should accept the 26-character key, but I have tried everything and it will not accept the key with that many characters. I have made sure to install the latest firmware. Anybody else experiencing this problem? Anybody able to input the 26-character key? I have an inquiry in to the Archos technical support but haven't heard back from them yet.

When you say it won't accept characters, do you mean it gives an error message or that it only has room for 13? I'm assuming your device is like my Axim and just shows asterisks in the key field and if it seems to only have room for 13, you can probably input more - the entries scroll as you type.

If you cannot get it to work, you might consider switching to 64-bit. In practical terms it is just as secure as 128 and it's much easier to get 10 characters right.

It will only accept 13 characters. After 13, it will not allow me to input anything more. I have not had this problem with any other device. I can connect to the network with my Axim X51v, my AT&T Tilt and my iPod Touch. This is quite frustrating because I bought the 605 WIFI specifically because of its WIFI capabilities. I also have an Archos 604 (non-WIFI) and would probably have stayed with that if I had known that the 605 would have this problem.

If that's the case, it must want the key in ASCII format. You can google hexadecimal to ASCII conversion to determine what your key is.
