Hello everyone

Just spotted on slashdot that someone hacked the hidden Browser in the psp to view external sites. Would be really cool if someone could send a screenshot with pspsite.com on it

Theres an interesting post at PS2-Scene.org about how to use a web browser on your psp. Its quite long though. Here it is:

Quote:
How to access the web on your PSP!
Here's a guide for y'all.

What you'll need:
A PSP
Wipeout Pure
A Brain
A hotspot or local wireless router.

First off, start your PSP up without a disc in, or otherwise access the HOME menu.

Go to Settings, then scroll all the way down to Network Settings.
Hit X.
Select Infrastructure Mode, hit X.

Select - New Connection -, hit X.
Enter a name. I used "Main Connection".
This will access things normally. Set it up normally:
Address settings: Easy (or custom, and just press right until you reach Setting List.

Connection Name Main Connection
SSID (blank)
Encryption None
IP Address Automatic
Subnet Mask Automatic
Default Router Automatic
Primary DNS Automatic
Secondary DNS Automatic
Proxy Server Do Not Use

Press right once again, and press X to save.

This is the connection you will use to access the REAL wipeout pure download site. (IE, Normal operation)

Now, create a new connection again. I named mine "Browser Hack" this time.

Address Settings: CUSTOM
IP Address Setting: Automatic
DNS Setting: MANUAL
Primary DNS: 67.171.70.72 (Thanks, fugimax!)
Secondary DNS: 192.168.0.1
Proxy Server: Do Not Use.

Setting list should resemble the following:

Connection Name Browser Hack
SSID (blank)
Encryption None
IP Address Automatic
Subnet Mask Automatic
Default Router Automatic
Primary DNS 67.171.70.72
Secondary DNS 192.168.0.1
Proxy Server Do Not Use

Press right, and save.

Now, go to Browser Hack on the menu and hit X.
Press right. select 'Scan' to find a hotspot or local wireless router.
If nothing comes up, then there are none in your area or they are not broadcasting their SSID.
If you receive the error message:
A connection error has occurred.
The WLAN switch is not turned on.

Then flip the switch on the left side of your PSP to the up position and try again.

Select Browser Hack, then load wipeout.

You should see the following when you go to Downloads.
http://www.base2.org/~fugimax/weblog...Preview-tm.jpg

Thanks to fugimax for providing the DNS and webserver used in this guide.
His site is http://www.base2.org/%7Efugimax/weblog/
Thanks to MomDad for providing the PHP toolbar redirector located at
http://www.allxboxskins.com/pspbrowser.php?url=
(this link will not work -- it's to the redirector since I have no contact information for MomDad. -- Add a site to the end to make it work, EX: http://www.allxboxskins.com/pspbrows...www.google.com )

(NOTE: DUE TO ME NOT HAVING WIPEOUT PURE, I HAVE NOT TESTED THIS MYSELF, HOWEVER, IT SHOULD WORK. ONE PERSON, PLEASE REPLY IF IT DOES OR DOES NOT WORK. THANK YOU.)

EDIT:
(FURTHER NOTE: I am going to be borrowing wipeout pure from someone. Expect a revision soon, including how to set up your own local DNS and portal using help from AnalogX's FastCache DNS caching software, and the ABYSS webserver to cut down on fugimax's bandwidth usage while you are at home.)

AnalogX FastCache (FREE!):
http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network/fc.htm

Aprelium Abyss Web Server X1 (X1 IS FREE):
http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/
http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/download.php

(Note, X2 is a commercial peice of software, adding support for hosting more than one website domain. (IE, www.foo.com AND www.bar.com at the same time) and 'prioritised' tech support, which means they will support X2, and in their spare time, support X1.)

Later on, I'll throw up a complete package containing all you need to create your own local web portal for your PSP.

How scary! 78% on IE! *runs and hides*

I've always wondered- do people hate browser fanboys as well as console fanboys? lol

That's really, really cool!

Anyway, if you know ANY javascript, it shouldn't be that hard to make an address bar as opposed to links like that. I think that if you put an input box with name "addressbar" and then have document.location.href = addressbar, you'd be able to do it. However, I'm no Javascript expert, so I'm not sure if that would actually work.

I wish that it wasn't so complicated. It's too bad. However, it's better than no browser!

adress bar
Here's some javascript code for an adress bar. Someone with wipeout: test this on a PSP please!
insert this into body of page:
<Script>
var adress;
adress=prompt("enter adress here.","");
window.location=adress;
</Script>

actually I was just kidding with the .1 psp.

The point was to get people thinking into the "id" of PSP browsers.

When anyone visits any page their browser is identified.
I wonder what is PSP browser is identified as? Probably just Unknown.
