When I buy one, I sure will not buy movies. Its stupid to have to buy the movie twice. And if I already have it on DVD, I can rip it and view it on my PSP or my X30 without having to pay for it a second time. I probably wont even do that, because im not really a mobile movie person

I dont think movies/music would sell very well. As mrp04 said we can just buy the DVD.. and with the DVD we can convert it to whatever we need. PPC, PSP... and the source will probably be nicer too!
Music I also doubt since the MP3 playback is allowed off the Memory Stick. Who uses CDs when they have MP3s as an opiton? Unless Sony manages to add some special features to the UMD Music, I doubt anyone woudl buy. Special features that may be nice include... music videos, graphics, text to accompany the media, perhaps interviews and other previews. The disks have lots of storage, I doubt adding all that stuff will cost much more but will add some redeeming value to the media.

I voted no.

Sony could do is have deluxe DVD editions that have both the DVD and UMD movie for maybe $35....

I still wouldn't get it... It's just cheaper to buy a portable DVD player and watch movies on there...

I'll just drag it to my 32 meg memory stick duo! lol. Well if they sold a burnable UMD disk, then I would buy the burner + blanks discs.

Agree w/ Ghost...I'd rather convert my existing library for it...considering I've done it for my PPC, it'll save time, and money

I voted YES! If it is a movie I know my wife wouldnt watch, I will do it, or if it is one of my favorite movies, its on.

I do not have the time (or patience and technical know how) to encode DVDs and such. I would rather spend the $20 to get the movie.

I might, depending on what there is. Right now Disney movies aren't exactly the most exciting. If they got more companies to start using the format then I'm Sure i would.

Yeah, If I could get the movies at low low prices, I wouldn't mind either.
But I would not pay the full price to just buy a movie to watch on psp, just like I wouldn't pay to buy a movie to watch on my Axim.

As for the music, do you think stores would soon sell UMD music Discs?
I vividly remember a lot of stores selling pre-recorded MDs at one point, later they just disappeared and only SonyStyle sold them, later even they removed them. Just think of UMD Movies as MD Music.. Just the first couple of thousand people would buy them, if they really really love the movie. Godfather on Subway, thats nice! Although why not rip it to the PPC for free off your dvd. Again, it comes to "what you already have", as far as other devices concerned, and how many you want to haul around.

I voted no, why would I want to pay more then a regular dvd to play a movie on my PSP when I can watch on one of my tvs at home for cheaper. I can just convert the video to the memory card if I really wanted to.

Heck yes! who needs to take all that time to convert... if I see a movie I like in UMD format, I'd buy it in a heart-beat (assuming I have money, which, after my PSP purchase, I don't)

I might. Depends on what comes out. As I have said before Disney Movies don't seem so thrilling. If Sony put out alot of theres and got a few more companies to do it as well. But I would much rather converter to go on the thing myself so I don't have to rebuy the movie like i do on my x50v.
