Can I transfer mp3s or photos VIA IR
I see the psp has a IR port. Anyone know if its possible to transfer data onto the psp memory chip via the IR port?

what happens when you bring it near your IrDA on your laptop?
does it get recognized as another "computer" ? if so, you can try that, possibly it will use it as MS reader via IrDA but will not be that fast.

It may be possible, but a Card Reader would definetly be faster and more reliable. I realise this isn't applicable in all situations though.

Why would Sony include IR but not BT? IR is far inferior and demands very close proximity and direct line of sight. Seems like a huge waste to me.

I tried beaming photos over IR and could not get it to work, I was happy to see that the MSDUO fits in my MS slot on my Belkin card reader.

Well they will come out with a 3rd party hardware for BT. As IR no there is nothing you can tranfer.

As of yesterday, PSP is not supporting any IrDA Interface with anything based on my conversation with Sony Style manager here in New York.

It is made "ready" for next firmware upgrades to be used with different peripherals..
