Are the devs pushing the hardware to the maximum capacity?
Don't get me wrong. I love my PSP, but some games that I bought the graphics don't seem to be ps2 quality. They arn't that breathtaking; which leads me to my question. Do you guys think the PSP is capable of producing better games visually? I'm of course talking about 3d. IE getting rid of jaggies, more polygons in the characters, etc.

Absolutely, the PSP has great potential but this is just the start. Take the xbox for instance, look at how far its hardware has been pushed, it can do amazing things, when compared to the starting games. People thought the first halo had amazing graphics look at halo2 hehe

Makes you think.
None of the games were specifically written just for the PSP platform. I think moving forward that there will be more PSP specific games and will be a forethaught for games being developed for multiple platforms.

Very true. The first PSP oriented game was Twised Metal Acid (or whatever the name is lol). The developers are just starting out with this new hardware, and they don't know what the limits are yet. They're taking it slowly. Give it time

ALso remember...some of these games were PUSHED just to make it on the release date...don't forget those that are being tested, tried, and true for the maximum hardware capability. Can't wait to see what it is capable of doing.

^yeah me either, the games still look good but you can tell that some of them were rushed, I'm sure we will see much better games in the future.

Also, the PSP has been underclocked to save power. So you are only seeing 1/3 of the power it will have once a new/better battery comes out.

I just hope they don't release a new version of the PSP for it. Making everyone shell out cash again.

I haven't heard anything about it being "underclocked". Is this really true or just one of those ever so elusive "rumors"?

^well its not really underclocked but basically, some games take up more power then other games do, just really depends on the graphics and gameplay speed of each game, like ridge racers takes up a lot more power then a game like lumines, so kind of the same thing there.

Yeah, I know what you mean, I can play lumins for hours and hours, but RR runs the battery down after about 3 hours or so of non-stop play.

Yeah, the more 3d-intense the games are, the more power they consume.
