USB port
What can you do with the USB port on the PSP? I know you can hook it up to your computer and it puts a drive in my computer to your memory stick (well, at least I think thats what it does). What else is compatible? Would a keyboard work for when they release the word processor?

I've seen a keyboard here

http://www.gameseek.co.uk/productdet...aqce6he5x223r/

Not sure if it attaches through USB though.
Could be good for Web Browsing on Wipeout Pure.

Pretty sweet looking keyboard lol, would seem hard to use it as a thumb-keyboard though. Looks like it folds up into a laptop type keyboard.

What else is compatible?
Probably anything...
just wait until people start making crap like USB Fans, or USB Lights or USB heaters, car jump starters ...
Same think happened with iPod, and probably will with PSP.

As of now, not much is made.

If it's a standard USB port, you can probably use any usb device, as long as the PSP can recognize the hardware. Which means people will need to start making drivers, etc

host or slave?
The real question to answer is whether or not the USB port on the PSP has the capability to act as a USB host, as a PC does, or if it is strictly limited to slave use, as in a USB drive for memory cards.

If it has the capability to be a host device, then the possiblities are substantial. If it can only be a slave device, then using it for much more than the original intent will be a lot more difficult.

HOST or SLAVE?

I think it is slave.
you cannot hook up anything to USB reader, it is meant to read and send out.

Probably PSP's capabilities are limited to reading the MS card and send it out....
maybe rom & firmware upgrades, than it is a different story,. I would guess they will do the upgrades from UMDs, as opposed to USB.

With a USB you can make just about anything compatible. Just you have to get the drivers installed... I think..

Not quite.. it depends on if its a usb host or not to see if things work on it. Pocket PCs have usb client abilities, but we are unable to connect a usb keyboard to it.

Where is the USB port though? if its on the top, that picture appears to have a wire connected to the top.

They need to sell a good usb 2.0 camera for the PSP. I mean with 16.x million colors, imagine the quality of photos it could take. =P

Yeah its on top. I would think its a host, because thats the only place to plug somehing in then. And what about :usb for multiplayer" that some places say? one has to be a host to do that.
