I had a bit of a learning curve understanding why anyone who want an ebook rather than a printed book.
It wasn't until I got my Axim X30 that the benefit of eBooks came through.
While I agree that an eBook on a home computer (and I assume when we say that it's a deaktop version) may not seem a great achievement, with a small device like Axim or PSP2 let me give you some thoughts to consider:
1. Portability. You could carry many, many, many, many books on your portable device. One print copy may be your max that will fit in a briefcase on the way to work or school.
2. Survivability. Loose a print edition and (a) reimburse you local library [loose too many and they may cut up your library card!!] (b) shell out cash to get a new print edition and realize this really hurts as you lost the book when you were almost done with it. It will now cost you at least 2 times just to get thru one book
3. Free back up copies. OK, your portable device can have a data loss. I bought my first eBook from
www.mobipocket.com A bit of the way into the book and I lost the book on my disk. A loss? Nope! I went back to the web site logged in and they let you re-download without charge. They must be thinking of me (an Axim X30 newbie) so they allow UNLIMITED re-downloads [yep, I am not through the book but I've had to go back more than once to re-download to to operator , not device error, error
4 Free ebook.
www.mobipocket.com even gives you free eBooks. Everything from Plato to Conan Doyle to Upton Sinclair. If you have been out of High School for a while [a few centuried ago for me

) it really is nice to read the classics when you want and at the pace you want and not have to discuss it academically with others. Heck, reading for pleasure, go figure!
5 Reading features. The system I use can be set to scroll through pages at my reading speed so I don't have to keep; manually scrolling through the book;p you can set font sizes to your comfort level.
So, if Sony PSP2 will allow ebooks in addition to DVD's that would be something. On a long trip or a rainy day at your vacation spot you can flip through
books and DVD with ease. Seems like a good way to stay informed & entertained!
