PSP UMD video VS Dell Axim X50?
Could someone do a side by side comparision? Some pictures and even video would be cool!

I just love comparing stuff...no matter what device will be on top...

I came here to find out the same thing. I have a x50v and was wondering if picture would look better or worse. I already encode with Nero which is a MP4 format.

I would think that encoded with the right settings, both devices would be about the same, however....

The PSP is widescreen so your would have less of the bar above and below the picture, and if you were trying to encode a standard 4:3 video that probably would look....different..especially with bars on the sides, or the top/bottom 1/3 cut off.

C'mon Chris...give us a comparo!

I just love using my pocket pc for movies/tv shows. I have mine loaded with a few movies and some family guy and simpsons. The cool thing with the pocket pc is that its easy to take movies and store them on your card. I haven't heard great things about video on the PSP though I haven't yet seen video on one so I'm not sure which you'd say is better. But I do have to say that my PPC was a great investment though!

Wow...it's only been out...starting it's 5th day and people already have said bad things? Ouch...but then again...you never hear the good things...people don't complain unless it's broke. LOL

The PSP will have a much much better selection of games, and the movies looks crisp and clean on the psp, plus with it being widescreen. Yet, the Dell is more like a pc, to where you can store crap on it, and more memory. More functional I guess is the word.

Tilt your axim.

Also I believe PPC s have better video performance for playback. As you can see on my other topic, where you can download videos from .connect, they are not that outstanding (if they are the quality that UMD Movies come with).

You can encode pretty good picture with much less space for PPC.

If anyone OWNS UMD Movie, could you please try to capture video with your camcorder?

Is there any other way to capture the video off UMD?

For movies the Axim would be MUCH better. First off the Axim can potentially hold bigger movies (Up to 16gb CF cards) secondly the resolution is higher also you can have you screen landscape or portrait. The axim can also play many more file formats (not just MPEG-4, but also MPEG-1, WMV, ASF, etc) the only one there isnt a player for yet is MPEG-2. As a PVP I would prefer my axim much more.

Speaking of resolution...anyone know what the true resolution of the PSP is? All I know is that its a 16:9 4.3" screen.

Then the hx4700 and x50v will beat it out. almost 2x the resolution and smaller pixels...hmmm...may just have to keep my 4700 for movies and music.
