Psp Emulator?
Apparently the devs are given an emulator for the psp (ok not apparently :P) but it would be great for developing home brew apps and the start of hacking for the psp. I am sure some developer will eventually leak it lol
But it might also help the piracy scene so it can go either way.

umm no these are real PSP emulators for the Developers. A homebrew one will take a long time to make but these are fully working for developers to test there games on.

Yes there is an emulator that is used to develop the games right now. My understanding is it can do it at full speed on current computers. Although no clue what kind of computer it takes to do that. The problem is first you have to get a copy of the emulator and second you have to get a copy of the games. As of right now no one has a way to rip the files off the disks yet unless a computer comes out with a UMD drive the only way I could see it happening is a homebrewed program that sends the disk contents over the USB connection or stores it to a memory stick. Even then no one has a clue how to write a program that will run on the PSP yet.

Just want to point out someone did figure out how to rip gamecube disks a while ago but you can see how far that went.

they went farther with the gamecube disks. if you remove the outer casing it can play games right from regular disks with no wild n' crazy boot modifications! They have linux the GC's also

That is one possibility. With so many flexibilities over PSP, there could be a smally application which can turn PSP into UMD reader via USB. That actually should not be that difficult. Doesn't PSP Store game-saves into MS ? If it can do that, it must be sort of a door, that is only being opened when PSP is copying contents off RAM into MS, and at that point, if a customized S/W that knows the innercore of the PSP were to get inside, and keep that door open, it might also get some information out of UMD. PSP has to access UMD anyway, and I assume it is just the same format as MiniDVD or MD, with only a extra number here and there to make it "encyrpted".

PSP is so young now, and believe me, there are a lot people working on it to get anything out of it.
