Finally, Really Converged (or ... they Really got this one RIGHT)
After trying to "get converged" for a long time I finally found a device that didn't break the bank but does it all.
Just received my Samsung i760 today. Fantastic device. Every bit as powerful as the iPaq 111 and my Moto-Q combined - which is what I was hoping for. A really sweet device. I can finally have it all without having to juggle two boxes. Sweet!
If you're on Verizon Wireless and wishing you could upgrade, go over to eBay and pick up one of these gems. I got mine for $118 shipped. Took just a minute to get Verizon to shift me off the "Q" onto this guy and a couple hours to install all the apps I was using on the iPaq. Everything runs flawlessly.
I thought the device might wind up being too large or something - nope; it's only slightly bigger than the Q and slips onto my belt as easily. About the only thing to watch out for is the Micro-SD; only accepts up to 2GB (which is no issue for me). If you want more than that I think there's a hack out there somewhere but aside from that this is one heck of a nice box.
Two devices was way too distracting. Now maybe I can get back to work!
Glad you liked it. I might converge once a Smartphone with Axim-like specs come out.

JohnDoe,
I'm looking at the HTC Touch Diamond 2 on your list. The processor is a bearable 528mHz... It has more RAM & ROM than Axims. A 5 meg camera, and obviously phone capability. Interesting...

The Samsung is very close to the mark. Obviously not VGA (no issue for me) and storage cards not as large (also not an issue for me). As far as speed and capability, though - it's as good as any PPC I've had.
There are some interesting devices starting to appear, finally.
Thanks for the thoughts, CB--you're impressions and experiences have been very interesting to follow.
Thanks. I'd like them to be, now, a little less interesting for awhile. I should have gotten one of these Samsungs in the first place last November when I got the Moto-Q. I guess I'll chalk it up to a learning experience. I'm tired of fiddling with this junk - I just want the thing to work. At least now I won't be distracted with trying to keep track of two devices.
