Aximsitemobileicon New to forum, old to Axim x51v

I found this forum as I am desperately trying to keep my Axim x51v alive and kicking. It has a loose power and sync connector, and needs a new backup battery (I have the parts) as I am tired of entering the time every time I change a battery. I have to say that Dell really did a poor job of engineering this thing... I have gone through two cradles that couldn't take the "abuse" of using the cradle, and the connectors wore out within a short time. I now have a third party cradle and hope this one will work when I get my connector on my PDA fixed. I think that the only thing wrong with it is that it is loose, but I could be wrong. I don't even know how to test for that, other than when I hold the cable that goes into the connector a certain way, it works. However, that is a pain in the neck.

I hope I will be able to find someone here who can help me, but first, I will try to catch up with others that might have had the same problem.

Welcome seatosea.

Cradles can be a problem. But, if the AX has a connector problem a new cradle won't make any difference. I've had one cradle go bad, but it was the chip in it and not the connector. I also have one AX with the connector problem and one that does not.

Remember too, the x51 doesn't have a backup battery. It's a capacitor. If you have the battery used in the x50 models, it won't work in the x51.

Ps - Here's a link to changing the capacitor: Replacing the back-up battery in an Axim X51V
