Aximsite Wiki

I was just looking at some of the WM5 pinned threads for Compatiable software, and thought about the idea of instead of a mod or the post starter editing the first post to add a title to the list, what about a aximsite wiki? that way the entire community could contribute with out moderator action to keep the list current.

because if the aximsite forums werent already the most extensive collection knowledge on axims and ppcs in general, all of that in a organized form like a wiki would be simply awesome.

"Was gonna do this, then decided there are enough wikis, talk me into it?"

In my opinion the seach facilities of the AximSite is not adequate lacking logical operations and keyword links maybe.
Somehow I would like to gain better access to the waste knowledge of the Axim users experience.

Maybe wike is a possibility ?

I think it would be good because you would have specific topics where all of info pertaining to that topic would be, instead of it being spread across multiple threads, with some OT posts in them.i.e. the first big thing i remember about aximsite is the mushy D-Pad fix on the early X5s

Here is how i would set it up initially

Hardware
X51
Hardware Information
Software Information
Rom Updates
Software Hacks and Mods
Hardware Hacks
Accesories

X50
X30
X3
X5
Operating Systems
WM5
Features
Software Compatability
03SE
03
02
Software
Catagoreies

Generic How To's
Movies
Music
Wifi
etc.

I think it would be the perfect way to have a "user-level" ability to create a resource list for "known good" applications, issue resolving steps for ROM updates, and about 4000 other things.

Realistically, with over 300 posts happening in a 2 hour time span, for a lot of people who may be in a hurry trying to find a quick solution to something, a post that was on the first page of a forum is back on page 2-3 by the end of the day... and rather than search, the question just gets re-asked. If all users can be pointed to a Wiki, you could have a very large, well organized data point instead of what we have right now, which is a very large cluster you-know-what with some talented moderators managing to hold it together.

I think a Wiki is a great idea :approve:

One thing I would recommend is that you limit editing to members. I use a number of WIKI's and the time spent undoing intentional damage can be large. There are bots out there that continually edit WIKI pages adding malicious code (most of which won't effect visitors unless they never update their computer). While it is easy to undo the changes it all takes time. If you limit it to members then you can just pull the members priviliges if they do these sort of things.
