i was trhinking maybe its time to put a spam filter in to prevent people from spamming. some of my deads were

*block text where the intire post is links
*have a priority levcel where afterr 100posts users are stepped down one priorty sand so on
*block post with certain formatting (all caps, certain number of perids, blcok the words "WE ARE WHOLESELLERS", ect)
put the filter only in affect to newer userws (for example dont filter psionandys posts or any other regulers) to save cpu usage
*block certain stings of text that apper often in spam messages
block the word "free" from new users....

what do you guys think? obviusly it would take a very powerfulcpu to crawl hundreds of posts every day but the rewards would be having a site wherre there anrnt spammessages.

i think you're on the right track. i do believe that some new measures should be taken.

the only thing is that it would take a long time to be programmed and take up cpu but i think the rewardss anr very um rewarding...

There has to be something like this. Maybe a sumbit with image or something..

Ive always been satisfied with the way yahoo filters spam e-mail. Of course thats totally different than forums.

Heres what i suggest:
-No caps in whole post
-Use something to make sure sentences/posts are legit.


Its a great site. Lets not let a few losers ruin it.

we need to makesothing that has AI to some degree. something that can sense when a post is suspicius. then try and optimize it to take up as little cpiuu usage as possible...

I don't disagree with you and hopefully your suggestions will be considered by Admin. but I don't think it is good for the board if it is driven TOO much by half a dozen or so regular posters.
Just thought I would add that it seems Spam is picked up pretty quickly by Mods. or members and although it occurs ocassionally I don't really see it as a problem. It would be a shame if we started filtering out legitimate new posters because of a few "unacceptable" words.

And I am not sure it is at all practical to do these things. No all uppercase would just discriminate against newbies who don't understand that it is considered shouting and to ban any word such as free would make a post "HOW DO I FREE UP MORE RAM" impossible.
