Slow page loading?

Anyone find the site slower recently? In recent weeks I found that loading forum pages is slower than months ago, perhaps after the merge of the two sites.

Is it just me or .... ?

Chris mentioned something about this. I think it has something to do with a low bandwidth restriction during the merger or something.

Heres what ive been doing lately.
Going to the new posts and opening the ones i want to read in a new tab. That way i can still browse the post titles while the ones i want load.

But its startin to drive me crazy... LOL!

Everythings normal for me, PC or PPC it might depend on the traffic when you are online?

I will be extremely glad when you have taken "Apple iPhone Contest" off the front page.

I do not have broadband (too far from my exchange) and it takes well over 30 minutes to download the front page because of the 11 YouTube windows (plus 1 more in "Merger Contest Update") . They each take forever to download.

I cannot open "Forums" or "New Posts" at all.

It really should be possible to download the front page in a reasonable time. Even with broadband it would probably take several minutes with no less than 12 You Tube images to download.

I just tried to access the dropdown menus from the above link and everything works just fine. Which browser are you using?

BTW, Chris looks at the Site Troubles/Suggestions forum so should be aware of this problem. He's been really quite swamped lately so you may have to be patient.

My browser is Mozilla Firefox fully updated.

The drop down menus still do not work.

Nor can I insert smilies.

All very strange.

If "Apple iPhone Contest" could be removed from the front page and put into its own thread with a link on the front page it would solve this problem.

Edit : I have no idea what has happened but the drop down menus are now working perfectly!! They now have downward facing triangles against those that have menus which they did not have before. Nothing has changed ay my end.

Also the site seems quite a bit faster.

I still can't insert smilies and bold or underline editing do not work but, apart from this, I am now a happy bunny!!!

davrol, glad to hear things are improving on your end...hopefully as the videos get moved off the page and the merger bugs get ironed out, your speeds will improve and your site browsing experience will get back to normal! :approve:
