Yell fire in a crowded theatre and go to jail, freedom of speech will not protect you there.
It is fine to hide behind this but does not apply here, the staff and owner are the ones who have written the "constitution" here and what rights you have here.

I think this post is, more or less, a contradiction in terms. You bemoan the childish posts, the trolling, the flamebaiting, and so on, and then proceed to insult and flame both members and staff.
That said, I do genuinely appreciate your underlying concerns. Allow me to respond.
We are a liberal forum, and always have been. People are allowed to speak their mind. Of course, anything that crosses the line, or infringes our rules, can and will be dealt with, but we rarely close or delete a thread simply because people express dissatisfaction with our decisions or policies. We're not big believers in web dictatorship. Maybe I am misreading things, but I think that this ethos is a big part of why Aximsite/MobilitySite has been so popular over the years.
Thank you for your post Martin. This probably is the first time I've read a post coming from a Mod that tackles a very sensitive issue with a firm resolve yet in a non-condescending manner. Furthermore, you treat all members with respect, with no discrimintion notwithstanding their track record. These are the qualities of a good leader. I still may not agree with some of your policies, but after this post you made, I definitely respect them now.
You think total free speach is a good thing? ok, lets pretend for a moment that the mods say "fine go ahead and discuss whatever you want!"
So people discuss the WM6 rom... while they're at it maybe somone decides they want to discuss the best way to break into jewelery stores, after all, we ahve freedom of speach, hwo care? somone else decides to discuss how to hotwire and steal cars, while yet another starts listing the easy ways to use household chemicals to kill people.
What do you think would happen to the forum? activity aside.
Simple, the cops (well FBI in this case) would swoop in and shut it down themselves for promoting criminal activity! There is a very good reason that the mods and admins dont want the WM6 rom discussed (I'm wondering about the A17 rom since MS seems to be saying "We dont care" but that's another thread...)
Now, to be clear, I do not agree with this, for reasons outlined in past threads, however the site owner/mods/admins made the decision and I respect it and I understand the reasoning behind it. I suggest, as always, if you want to talk about it, go to XDA developers. I really dont see what the problem is here (outside of a few assholes who jsut want to piss off the mods...)

It's impossible to run a site that EVERYONE loves. There will always be someone who is upset about a rule or two. Out of the whole "Who thinks we should be allowed..." topic, only something like 140+ people voted to allow a certain topic. Out of 19 THOUSAND members...
No, I think the spirit and enthusiasm which was Aximsite will continue to live-on with MobilitySite for a long time to come. Aximsite, as a name, will eventually give way to the broader MobilitySite...
19,000 members, i doubt it. How many of those are active? Many could be just adandoned usernames.
So you agree that aximsite has a short life left. Im sure mobilitysite will live on forever, but the end is near for aximsite.

At this point, I've already posted till I was figuratively blue in the face with the reasonable arguments, and ignored. There's very little left for me to lose in venting my feelings, since they're about the only thing left to post which haven't been seen here and which get remarked on.
Seriously, though - for months I was away from here after that WM6 brouhaha started, just because I was sick and tired of reading the same thing again and again, with posts like the first one in this forum. There was only flaming and a lack of dialog - and if I'd wanted to see this sort of thing, I could've gone to SomethingAwful's forums. The main reason I frequented this board more than somewhere like say, PPC Thoughts, was because there was more useful information here and posts which went beyond 'I agree' and 'yeah'.
Some days it feels like Eric12341 and his kin have 'taken over' the forums, which means there's very little incentive to hang around, as most of the useful information is 'drowned out' in a wave of WM6 posts which are popping to the top of the boards, and I've little time to dig through the morass of (to me) useless threads.
On the one hand, the rules about the illegal ROM postings say that repeat offenders will be banned; on the other hand, I've yet to see this happen, even in the face of repeated baiting and posts which can be summed up as 'you all suck for not letting us post WM6 ROMs, you conservatives/Communists/Satanists/Microsoft-toadies/old fogies/oppressors of those who seek knowledge/unAmerican facists'. The rate things are going, my Ignore list will be big enough to require an Excel spreadsheet to sort through. :P
