There are ways to set the ads so that they are the last to load on the page. That allows the page to be usable while the ads are still loading. All third party ad servers decrease performance a little but it's better then needing to pay a subscription to access the forums!

Site loads in less then three seconds on my computer on a 1.5mbps connection

Hmm, so I see I'm not the only one experiencing this. MobilitySite servers must have odd lines of communication.

Speaking of this, I think I encountered a new SLOOOooooWWW record today, and wow is this site ever dragging right now. Here's the specs:

• 40 seconds before I could even see the page.
• 81 seconds to load the entire page (that's 1 minute, 21 seconds!!!)
• 164 seconds to load this 'Reply to Thread' page (that's 2 minutes, 44 seconds!!!!!)

Now, things could be slow on my end (I'm experiencing some lag which you will notice on the times below), but not nearly as crazy slow as this site!

• 7 seconds to load Google.
• 12 seconds to load CNN with all it's graphics and ads.
• 25 seconds to load Aximsite.
• 12 seconds to load e-Bay.
• 22 seconds to load Tigerdirect.

Kinda interesting...

Weird, sounds like it's selective slowing... I timed the loading of this page with a firefox addon. It loaded for me in 10.3 seconds.

Aren't aximsite and mobility site hosted on the same servers?
Mobilitysite does link to a 404 page (http://www.mobilitysite.com/boards/c.../vbseo_ajax.js). But I don't think it is a time-out issue.

Yeah, that's what I get too. Since I am located in Ohio, and on Roadrunner also, I get the same. But the site does seem a little slower...

But, I bet when Chris switches hosts to his new server, everything will be a whole lot faster. I would love to own that server. haha Great specs it has. Should load fast once Chrish changes the DHCP over to it... :)

Hardware is only one small (quite small in fact) piece of the pie when it comes to speed.

This server is going to be more than a huge piece of hardware, its going to be on what many claim to be the best webhost network out there too. The Planet is supposed to have great pipes.
