SLOW SLOW.. site

Is it me.. or is this site SLOW... this seem to be happening for a week or more now.. This include the forum and the main page. It sometimes takes several minutes to load forum/main page.

I'm on here at least several times a day, and have not experienced any speed issues at all. Everything loads within just a few seconds.

What type of Internet connection do you use? Are there any other sites that you have visited that are a little slower lately? If so, then it is likely a slowdown somewhere in the route between our server and your ISP.

I had the same problem 2-3 months ago. It magically fixed itself. The site is super-fast on cable.

I've been trying to figure it out. Every one of Chris' sites is slow for me at work.

http://www.ipaqhq.com
http://www.aximsite.com
http://www.digitalmusicsite.com
http://www.thewaterfountain.com

It has something to do with the database I'm sure because when I go to a page that has not database involved its fast as can be (like the default page at http://www.thewaterfountain.com ). What is nice about this is I actually spend less time here while at work. :p

But my cable modem at home has no issues. I know its more me than him because when my office moved from DSL to a T-1 is when it happened. I can't figure out why so I've given up.

Sounds like your proxy server at work is having issues.

It's the same with me. My internet proxy here at work is the pits. So surfing is always a challenge and alot of times it is slow; especially when I am hittings sites that use databases. But when I am at home, no problems whatsoever.

I just learned to cope with my proxy server here at work.

That's my guess too, but when you don't have control over it, there isn't much you can do...

That's because they rather have you working than surfin' the net! :D Seriously, I haven't noticed either an improvement or loss of speed on the site at either work or home.

One other thought, a lot of systems are running slow today while they get their filters in place for that new virus or worm or whatever it is. Maybe your ISP is running slow making sure non of the nasties gets through. I know we were attacked last night so they pulled down our email from around 7PM to 4 AM to get the patches and filters in place. Just a thought.

Not necessarily. A Full T1 is only 1.54Mbps, usually costing around $500/mo or so. You can get DSL up to about 2Mbps for around $100/mo less in most areas. The advantage of a Full T1 is that it's a fixed speed of 1.54Mbps, regardless of how far you are from the telco central office. With DSL the further away you are, the slower the speed is at some times. Also, with DSL you're not guaranteed to always have full speeds with syncrhonous transmissions.
