Quite suprised to see no visual notification of a recieved PM. Any way that such could be added? I think even something as simple as a blinking dot (or maybe go back to the color changing Ax button ;) ) near the messaging section of the forum would do wonders in alerting users of to a new PM.

You can have an email sent to you when you get a new PM. To do this go to Forums >on the drop down menu select Control Panel > Then click "Edit Options" > Select yes by "Send you an email when you receive a Private Message?" > Lastly click ok to save the changes.

Thanks for the tip, it works nice enough, but none the less.. I think a visual notification would do wonders for site usability.

Yeah it would, you should contact the Admin; to do that, click Admin > Contact Us and suggest it!

Isn't there also an option to have a box pop-up when you get a message???

Wait... there it is, I have it set to yes but have never received a PM here. Of course if you have a pop-up blocker you may want to allow pop-ups for this site.

I used to get popups too but lately, there haven't been any even if I have new PMs.

If I remember correctly, Chris said that there was a "problem" with the Pop-Up Notification with the Version of vB, PHP (or whatever) Code the Site is using right now.

He also said he was trying out a newer Version and would implement the Pop-Up Notification (with some other suggestions) when he implements this newer Version...........soon.

Of course, this was about three or four months ago..........


(Strange note, here).......occasionally, about once a month or so, I will get Pop-Up Notification out of the clear blue. It's a valid notification..........but then it won't do it again for another few weeks. Last one I got was about 2 weeks ago.

MrKlatuu has superb memory! Yes you are correct. I will get to looking at that soon. I do not plan on going to VB3 for a while. The out of the blue pop-ups happen on pages that do not have the drop down menus only. (Like the search buffer screen)
