Aximsite/iPaqHQ Wiki

I was just thinking about this last night. We need to get a Wiki started here with all the FAQs and Tutorials that people have done. We all have seen how great Wikis work for other uses, so why not create one here? Sharing it with both Aximsite and iPaqHQ would be a great way to get the biggest repository of information.

Anyone else think it is a great idea?

I think this was discussed just a couple of weeks ago, but the discussion was pretty much ended when Chris said that he thought it would be a good idea, but he has no current plans for this.

[edit]NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! Cagey, put your old avatar back, I loved that thing...Krusty rocks Bob, put him back!

Yea, I remember it...

But I'm forcing the issue on both sites. Frankly the FAQs and Tutorials are worthless they way they are. Its my "job" to maintain them and I just don't want to do it anymore in the current system.

What is good about is that anyone can create a topic and then people can respond to them with solutions. Or people can fix/update previous topics that become incorrect or need to be adjusted as newer Axims/iPaqs arrive.

That would leave you with less work, which is good. And make us non-moderators feel important! I like it!

Well we get emails all the time saying the FAQs or tutorials are wrong. This way people can make them much better and feel part of the site.

Which is why we need one. It would be up to the members to make sure they are up to date.

But wouldn't this added freedom bring with it the ability for people to act maliciously and ruin things?

Sure, but wiki's allow you to revert back to previous versions before they were defaced.

I think the risk is low, but the upside of up to date FAQs and tutorials would be high.

Cagey, I was gonna say, "Are you trying to run me out of a job?" when I remembered I'm no longer just a mere writer. hehe
