X50 Repeat Questions = X50 FAQ Sticky Time?

Updated after move >>>nevermind, since a Mod moved this post out of the X50 section the X50 posters will never read it or care, just wasted our time on a relevant topic --- This was NOT a site suggestion or problem it was a FAQ sticky issue in the X50 Fourms<<<

I really like this site, really I do.. not just saying it, however the influx of the same question over and over and over again makes it harder to read the site or want to help people that ask the same question tha was asked twice the day prior.

Recently I have been just skimming over topics for this very reason, I look for something new, unique and of interest, not something rehashed over and over like "Hey my green light comes on so can I use the Axim now or do I need to wait 8-hours"

I know I am interested in helping putting together a FAQ that could stay sticky saying something along the lines of "NOOB Axim X50v Questions Read Here" I also know that there is a NOOB thread elsewhere in this forum, however new people with X50's come here first instead of going to the correct area.

It may also cut down on the Mods having move topics if the answers are easy to find.

If the mods don't wish to do the X50v FAQ's here, I have no problem hosting it on e-Powersellers or any of our other sites.

Thanks Dave, I know that, and I stated that in the original post, however I also made the point that even though the NOOB section exists they still come here for X50v and ignore the others.

AS STATED: "I know I am interested in helping putting together a FAQ that could stay sticky saying something along the lines of "NOOB Axim X50v Questions Read Here" I also know that there is a NOOB thread elsewhere in this forum, however new people with X50's come here first instead of going to the correct area."

I thought I addressed that clearly in my original post, sorry if it was misleading.

u r right, i missed that. i agree with you about where noob's seem to go no matter what already exists. maybe a sticky faq in the most used and abused area would help. besides, the one that exists is now so far down on the page, most people don't scoll down that far.

Very true, the X50 forum is right on top, someone has an X50 they stop there... end of story

Well never mind as a Mod moved the topic to an area that the X50 people don't read, so not it is moot and no one will care, thanks a bunch, good job,etc.. etc..

What a waste of time..

If you actually do an FAQ for newbies, then there MAY be a place for it in the x50 general discussions (not guaranteeing it), although that decision will be taken by the staff collectively. This post was simply suggesting the idea of doing one, i.e. you're suggesting a site improvement.

Many newbie questions can be answered either in the Newbie forum, or by the tutorials (e.g. Gigi's what I can do with my Axim). The inherent problem is that new users often don't read first, they simply post. A sticky in the x50 forum will almost certainly not change that.

Your post contradicts itself...

1) There maybe a place for it
2) It won't do any good.

Which one?

At least it is good to the point of someone posts in the X50 section we can point back up to the sticky on top that is "SPECIFIC TO X50 NOOBS" and not general noob questions.

The point of putting the post in the X50 forum is to get the feedback from the users of the X50 forums and thier opinions which I figured mattered to the moderators. Now no one from that forum will read this, know or care.

You should have let the post run its course so the mods can make an informed decision, now it is only speculation.

I personally go to view today's post when i log on. Some time new posts. I think the point is (maybe) that most people them immediately post a question. Two things are happening:

1) people RARELY use the "search"
2) people don't go to a specific post "subject"

I have seen web site that simply put a LINK ("newbie") right at the top, requesting that any people new to the site, or those with a general question, go to that site, or sites first. It could also suggest an immediate "search", with a link to "search" right at the top of Today's posts.

What a waste of time..

The X50 people that are the target of the FAQ won't read this post in this forum. But they are the target of the FAQ, not the target of this thread.

This is the right place for this thread, since it's a site suggestion.

That's not a bad idea. Another idea I've seen on another site is a message that appears in the text box (this one where I am typing) that says something like "Please ensure you are posting in the correct forum." Please still post things like

But any suggestion is a good one.

I like this idea; simple but it could be quite effective.

E-powersellers, hopefully now you feel less put upon and can see why your thread was moved to here.

My goal is to just not drive people away from the site. I see to many posts where people including mods say "There are already posts on this please search etc.. " or how to delete icons, etc.. people will stop coming, they will stop reading and for sure if they do read it will be more selective and people will be less likely to help new people.

Are you sure your talking about Aximsite? The crew here is so mellow you'd think it was a conspiracy. :)

Unlike other sites the mods here usually answer the question before suggesting a search. That builds a really positive vibe.

My main gripe is unnecessarily vague thread titles. "Please Help" can drive me to distraction when I'm mobile. I can't see what forum it's in until I click on it and believe it or not I don't really have all the answers. ;)
