Why Close a Thread at the water fountain

Why would a thread be closed (Dear American Protestor) at the water fountain. Isn't this the forum for general conversation. Just because people disagree doesn't mean it should be closed. Aren't we all adults here (well I guess there could be non-adults here

)

I felt that the thread was degrading into an attack on the French. I don't agree with their posistion in the whole situation, however, we're not here to make fun of other nationalities. If it was a genuine dicussion on France's political agenda and involvement with the war, then it's fine, but I don't feel like that thread was.

I'm going to move this to site feedback.

It was made tongue-in-cheek, and since I do like to laugh when at the water-cooler, I didn't see the problem.

There are plenty of funny, fun, or amusing subject we can talk about by the Water Fountain.... However, I don't want any racial, gender, sexual, or politicly incorrect subjects being discussed here. I may agree with many views of many folks, but I do not want to be subject of any laws or otherwise unpleasant things that can result from questionable content.

I am very glad that so many people enjoy coming here and I do not want them to feel Hitler Like Censorship, but I do want to run a clean ship here. There may be some threads that I have monitored that teeter on the line, but the ones that stay mainly swerve back inward from the line.

Please accept my apology for this, as I do not want anyone to have a bad taste in their mouth, but I have to keep it clean and fun here....

Actually I was more hoping you weren't pissed at me :-)

That "This is your house" comment was being serious. I have a bunch of motorcycle message boards, and my only real rules are no profanity and no nudity...try enforcing that one with a bunch of bike riders! But then again...that's at MY house :-)

I've been in the military and can cuss most of you under a table...but I can keep from typing it and using it in my house around my kids.

No problem Mr. Foreman. hehe...I just try to keep order and avoid forum choas<SP>, which is somewhat difficult. As you know, you are going to tick someone off no matter how hard you try....
