This might generate some ire - what with a noob bumping an old thread 'n all. So I'll understand if this post is ignored or the thread gets locked.

But what ever became of the above questions?
Bumping up against unseen rules :bang: - as RossMAN apparently did - can't be helpful to anybody. Were the rules ever clarified and/or updated ... in public? Or are the invisible rules still invisible?

No, I have no plans to post the kind of things that RossMAN posted. I just feel strongly that forum members are entitled to know where the boundaries are....

Thanks for listening. :)

Well, I wasn't around at that time (or was I?), but I think its obviously allowed. Just take a look around the Hot Deals forum.

Oh, and WELCOME TO AXIMSITE!

(Not quite qualifying for the neromcracer awards) Or however you spell that.

Well that post says affiliate links aren't permitted, and it says that the deleted post didn't violate any rules.
So I'm confused about why the admin deleted the post. Will MY future posts meet the same fate? Right now, it's hard for me to know.

There's still the matter of the deleted post.
So something wasn't allowed.
Without knowing why, aren't we just wandering around a minefield of unseen rules?

See, I'm sayin' that wandering around the forums to try to deduce what the rules are isn't effective. Even if one is plenty familiar with the AXIMSITE boards, it's still no guarantee they'll bump up against some rule - as we all see with RossMAN's deleted post.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against the harried mods/admins doing whatever they want. But wouldn't they save themselves time in the long run - not to mention help the unwitting AXIMSITE forum members (especially the noobs) - by posting the rules rather than keeping them in their noggins?

(The post that Noisy Crow pointed to is something of a start. But of course this thread - along with that post - will eventually drop out of sight.)

Chantillian,

At the very top of the forum you'll see the announcement with the rules posted.

Here is a link in case you can't see it for some reason:

http://www.aximsite.com/boards/announcement.php?f=25

They are there for all to see.

My bad (he says humbly). (Just fwiw, I had looked for a "Rules" button in the top nav bar (alongside Home, New Posts, Forums, Resources, Shopping, etc) like I had seen on another vBulletin-powered forum.)

Still... and this goes back to my 1st post above ... the question remains (I think :) ) about why the admin deleted RossMAN's post? It didn't violate the rules, according to Chris. Yet something about it was objectionable.

It'd be helpful to all for the future, in my oh-so humble opinion :) , to mention what the objection was so that folks aren't destined to repeat it....?

The resolution to this was negotiated between Chris and RossMAN I believe. We typically don't do the whole "public example" thing. Especially a full year after the original issue was dealt with. ;)

I totally agree on the "public example" thing.

But I guess I'm just asking: when there's silence over a deleted post (be it RossMAN's or any other) that abided by the posted rules, what's to prevent other posters from coming along and unwittingly commit the same sin - not to mention having the busy admins "negotiate" it all over again (be it once a week or once a year)?

Just abide by the posted rules. Exceptions are dealt with on an exception basis. No issue.

From that indirect answer, I read, "There's nothing." -
and I'm content (at last ;) ) to leave it there.
