2gb CF vs SD card..which is better
I have done a search and see reports of benchmark mark differences

But it seems write speeds are close as well as read speeds between CF/SD..I realize the high performance cards are slightly better

But for longevity and data safety which is better

Does CF card eat more battery...(I know micordrives do of course and I have no desire for one of these)

I own a 1 GB SD card but would like a 2GB card...if I get a SD card I will sell my 1gb, if I get 2GB CF I will keep both

I want the 2 GB card to store my NAv maps from Garmin and Iguidance

Thanks

I am using a 2GB CF on my PPC. Works great and on the SD reader I have a 256 RS-MMC which only stores some theme files. Most of my other gimmicks, camera etc, uses MMC/SD so I leave that slot empty just in case I need to transfer filed from them.

Bit of a hard one, longevity? - Do you mean will you still be able to buy them after a number of years? Though nizesa brings up a good point, do you have any gimmicks/gadgets that take up either the CF or SD slot? If so it is probably best to get the memory for the other slot.

Have a personal preference for CF - its unlikey to be made redundant any time soon, due to it being the primary card most pro's use in digital cameras. Also due to its application, it is most likely to see the higher capacities, and then the subsiquent price reductions for the lower gigabyet capacaties - anyone remember when for the same price for a 2gig card now, that wouldnt get you a 512mb, or if I remember correctly a 32mb!

SD/CF are a generally pretty stable medium - there's no moving parts that will break.
