Actually they have come down in price quite a bit, New Egg has quite a few under 55$ and you do NOT have to bother with a MIR.

I hate MIR's and avoid them at all costs. Ever since I bought my Toshiba E335 about 3 years ago I came to believe they're a scam. They attract buyers but many people don't apply for them, and those that do don't always get them. I had a $100 coming, and got it 4 months later after several calls. SilentKnight, good call on the Newegg ones!

I haven't had trouble with MIRs at all. I got my 2GB Kingston Elite Pro CF for $80 after MIR from buy.com. A bit overkill when it comes down to it (I can't utilize the high transfer rates anyway), but heck, 2GB for $80 is a steal with your standard 10x CF.
