Q: Using microdrive from iRiver H10 mp3 player on my X51v

Hi guys,

I've just ordered my first PPC, the X51v. I'm searching the forums for info on which storage card to get and I'm just wondering does anyone know if the 4gb microdrive in the iRiver H10 is compatible with the X51v?

By that I mean if i broke open my H10 and took the drive out could i use it in the x51v? The price I paid for the mp3 player is not that much more than the price of a microdrive (here in rep of Ireland anyway!).

If the x51v can double up as my mp3 player I might as well just crack open the mp3 player, take the drive and bin the shell......or am i crackers? :rolling:

From reading other's experience on this forum and others, I'd say you have about a 50/50 chance, at best, of it working. Seems like a bad gamble to me. Just sell your iriver on Ebay and buy a retail microdrive that does work.

Thanks Jimbo. From what i can gather the drive can either be locked or it's soldered to the board. Don't think I'll risk it....
