I just got a 1gb Kingston SD card for $39.99 + s&h. Sure beats the $79.00 I paid 1 year ago for my Sandisk 1gb SD card.

Actually, the x50v is listed as a compatible device. My microdrive should be here on Wednesday. I am hoping for the best!

DO NOT buy this card!! I ordered one from geeks.com and it did not work. I sent it back and am waiting for my refund.

I'm half way through ordering this card, from Sydney Australia, so I'm a little uncertain if it is worth the US$20 postage, then the 6-8 week wait for an untrackable, uninsured package which may or may not work.

Has anyone contacted Dell or Seagate to confirm the compatibility?

Has it been confirmed that only the refurbed models don't work, or do some of the new cards not work?

Any feedback would be appreciated (since my 1GB SD card is ripe to explode).

CJ - it's funny that I ordered mine before you, and I'll be receiving mine this Friday, a day after you. I guess I can't complain since I managed to get free shipping & only paid $89.99 due to a previous coupon code.

Pls be sure to include the full P/N #, as that's what usually differentiates the IDE-only vs. the IDE/CF ones. I'll also post my details when it arrives, tomorrow.

I remain optimistic as it did work on my friends' x50v who bought the exact same cards (not the refurb version) that we both ordered.

Can't believe my luck, I received the ST1 5GB FW 3.04 version so it doesn't work on my x51v

Spoke to my friend in CA whose ST1 5GB does work on his x50v, and he told me that the geeks apparently sell both the FW (firmware) versions (3.04 & 3.08) which apparently make it IDE-only. He was lucky as his does not have any "FW" markings whatsoever!!! The refurb I sent back was an FW: 3.08 and this new one has "FW: 3.04" on it!!!

CJ - pls let me know as soon as you receive yours today whether it works and whether it's the FW version or not.

Guys, you seem to know a lot about flash cards.
Can you tell me how I can repair my sd card.I have lost all the data all of a sudden and what I have now on it is only 3 folders.
I know I can use a flash card utility (ie. flash format) but the problem is I have not got a pc around me. I am abroad.
So do you know any utility software that can be installed straight onto my x51v?
