Absolute Cheapest 4GB+ Memory Card?

Has anyone done any research and found what they believe is the lowest price on 4GB+ CF card or microdrive that will work in a X50v. I purchased a 4GB OEM Hitachi for $80! thinking it would work in the X50v but it turns out it does not. The lowest I have found for a 4 GB retail hitachi is $137. I am curious if this is the average price for one of these or if people have found cheaper prices. I don;t really care bout the manufacturer as long as it works and its not real slow. I have a generic SD 1 GB card now and the speed is perfect. I don't care about these expensive 100X CF cards in which the speed can't be utilized in a X50v

Two things you might want to keep in mind.
1. If you buy a good quality card, there may be less chances of problems or compatibility issues.
2. The speed of the card comes in handy when your are transfering information to and from the card. If your plan is to place the files on the card and keep them there, sure save the money. But if you are going to be moving a lot of data on and off the card, a faster card might better.

I just ordered a Seagate ST1 5gb from Geeks.com and only the sales tax (California) pushed it past $100 with a "dealnews" coupon. The Axim X50v is listed on Seagate's compatibility chart which is referenced on the product page, so it certainly should work. I also read a review where it was faster than the Hitachi in a way that is likely to affect the Axim. Unlike the Hitchi, it has a 2 mb buffer which should reduce spinning to save the battery and speed up access to files, particularly things like music or video. Maybe it will help GPS maps too.
I'm not a regular poster so I can't promise to tell you if it works. But I'll be annoyed if it doesn't so if you don't hear from me within a couple days then everything is going fine.

Well, they sent me a defective drive. It isn't recognized by my Axim. Or anything else. Now I get to test their cusotmer service. Phooey.

Welcome to the club. Writes are slow but reads are fast and it is so convenient to have 4GB in a single SD card. :approve:

2 GB card for under $70? How did you get that? I checked Dell and the lowest price was about $100.

CF+Printer for $81 USD AR/AC. Estimating the printer with ink to be worth ~$17 USD (MSRP $50 USD). Use CF for Canon Digicam and printer for college.
