New CF card...should I bother?
Hey guys, I bought a Kingston Elite 2gb CF card about a week ago. So far, I have not used it because after purchasing I read about all the problems people were having with their x51v and memory cards. My question is, if I put in the card and leave it in, so that I can access the data there at any time, am I constantly going to have to hard boot and loose all the programs on my device? Should I even bother with a memory card then? Thanks guys for the help in advance.

Make a backup on your cf card of all your critical items they will not be erased from your card on a hard boot. Anything on your card should not be affected by your pda unless somehow you manage to make the pda delete everything off of it which is highly unlikely by accident.

But I would still lose programs and have to reinstall them all correct?

You only need to soft reset to restore the flash media cards. Soft reset erases nothing.

Okay, I also heard though that some would not turn on at all and that a hard reset had to be done. Is this true? Do you leave you cards in all the time Axim-Rob?

hard reset doesnt affect your flash card and you can backup your programs on the flash card also just backup everything you install into main memory and when you need to restore from the backup file and you will be good to go
