What is the speed of X51V's SD slot ??
i had saw a lot of speed , 30X,60X, 120X and 150X
however,
What is the speed of X51V's SD slot can reach?
there is no point if my X51V can only support 60X but buying 150X SD card, right?

Also, some people say BRAND matter , so what Brand is the best? and what Brand should we avoid?

And here is another issue, CF microdrive, it seems the space/price ratio is better in here,
however, how about the speed ? faster or slower then SD? Does CF microdrive required more Power than SD? significantly?

Please give me a hand on these if you know the answer,
i can't sleep without solving it!!
thx

There is no simple or single true answer.

Transfer speeds depends on the OS and its revision, whether your are reading or writing, file sizes, card formatting, other things. A card that performs well in a PDA but not in a card reader may be fine for you but not for me; you may not care about the card speed in a card reader or camera but I do. Guy #3 might say we are both full of shit because the cards we like cost too much.

There is no absolute best brand, but a lot of opinion. Be careful who you ask.

Define your quality & purchase criteria, then ask again. Don't simplify, research. Sleep well anyhow.

I remember reading some where that the pda with wm5 won't utilize any speed that's greater than 66x. However here is my take, if there is not much pricing difference or very slight difference, I'd go with the fastest one your budget allows. Two reasons, the faster card is more future proof and even has better resale value if you decide to sell it later. Most often, you'll need to use a card reader to transfer file directly from the PC to the SD card, and I think most of the SD card reader will allow a higher speed.

I don't know the correct answer but my Kingston Ultimate 2 GB (120x) is slower than the PNY standard 1 Gig (? X) that I had in my X51V. That tells me that there are other factors than just what X speed the card is rated for. Using PocketMechanic benchmark the Kingston got a 5.9x read and the PNY was 6.6x read. Way below the rated numbers. My Sandisk Ultra II CF 2 Gig CF card gets 8.?x.

Benchamarking various ways I see no appreciable difference in speed between an old Lexar 12x 256MB CF card and a newer SanDisk Ultra II 1 GB (120x?) CF card. The bottleneck apparently is the CF reader/OS on the Axim. However, I do get ~5% faster response from the SD reader using a SanDisk Ultra II 2GB SD card. Since 5% is hardly representative of the speed potential of a 120x card vs. a 12x card, I tend to believe that the SD reader is likewise s l o w.

As statet above, the real benefit of the faster card is its response time in a USB card reader, not the Axim.

BTW, there is a sticky on storage card compatibility. This should help answer your "brand" question.
