trouble with Sandisk Ultra II 2 GB SD card
I bought this recently from dell on a good deal. Only 99 CAD. It runs fine on my PPC. But it does not work on my card reader. the card reader again works fine with my other regular 1 GB SD card. I heard that Sandisk Ultra II 2 GB SD card has lots of incompatibility issue. Should I return it and get a regular 2 GB sd card, which has the same price?

I haven't had any problems with mine...try formatting the card in your card reader and then putting it back into service.

scamdisk is garbage period.
their claimed 60x ultra cards bench in slower than my lexar 32x (i have an ultra 512MB)

the regular cards are total garbage. its not just ultras, the regular 256MB where almost all defective. since then i have banned scamdisk from my shopping list.

just sell your ultra card on ebay and get a real card like kingston elite or Lexar 40x

I agree that their older cards (under 1 gig) were trash, but I haven't had any issues with the ones that are 1 gig and over.

Cricmate, if you value the data on any card you get, you should get a good card reader to go with them...those no-names off ebay are a problem waiting to happen. Get a nice multi-card reader with usb 2.0 that's actually meant to sit on your desk. If you must use one that you can carry in your pocket, I recommend the one I have.

You might be right, but I don't want to take any risk, since many customers on Amazon web site complaining against the card- that it does not work after 1 month or so.

The Ultra II cards are not the problem, if you dig deeper you find that the root of the problem is the card reader...

I have been using mine for almost 2 years, daily, in PDAs, cameras, card readers; still do.

Try an Ultra II card in a decent card reader and test it against several other 60x cards. The Ultra is way faster than any other 60x I tried, including the Lexar Pro 60x. But the Lexar cost the same as my Extreme III (5 bucks more even), only the latter is in a speed league of its own. The Lexar was a total let down in terms of price for value, on the other hand. You pay for the name.

I have four Sandisks, not that exact model, with no problems for me.

Ultra II CF 8GB
Extreme III SD 1GB
Standard 521 CF 512MB
Standard SD 2GB

This is most likely a card reader problem, they too need to be updated to support higher capacity/faster cards. I'd try a different card reader.
