Hi

I'm hoping that somebody can help me out with the following:

I recently bought a 2GB CF card (Dane-Elec) from expansys. It worked for a few days but now my Axim x51 doesn't seem to be able to see it i.e. using File Explorer it doesn't appear.

Anyway, I'd be grateful if anybody on the group has encountered a similar problem and if so how you resolved it. Is there a way to force the Axim to look for new hardware? From what I describe is the card faulty?

I had a similar problem with an SD and all I did was pop it out and replace it and it appeared again, a soft reset might help as well.

If you have a seprate card reader it might be worth viewing the card through that to see if it is ok/reformat it; if it doesn't show or your PC says its corrupt up then I would return it to expansys and report it faulty - get your RMA number from them first. I have returned things to them and found them to be reasonably quick to process them.

Hi Alastair

A soft re-start managed to cure it. I'm now uncertain what to do. Should I send it back or not? I've already started an RMA i.e. faxed expansys. It's a pity that they didn't give me the same advice when I phoned up. I'll see how it behaves over the next few days.

Did you do the "fake server" fix? This solved my 8GB CF/1GB SD card problems. Check the forums for this trick.

Glad it worked, it probably means it wasn't the card, try the tip from TimberWoolf, I don't have an X51 so my advice was best gues based on my own experience and what I'd read. Though I'm toying with the idea now they're on offer in the UK.

The "fake server" looks interesting and looks like exactly what has been happening i.e. not starting and card missing. I'll give it a try.
