Probably more, but by how much (anyone know by what factor?)?

I have been running my Seagate 8Gb MD for about a month now. I don't know the exact power requirements differences, but there are a couple of things to consider. First, data through put is slower on these than many of the normal CF cards out there. So while there may not be much per unit time draw difference, your MD card will spend more time running due to slower data throughput.
I put my player in MD mode so that it caches more data and reduces the delays that can be caused to slower seek and throughput times.
It does seem to use about twenty percent more power than my CF card did. I believe it is due to the reasons I pointed out above. However, when I travel I keep a spare battery and the Pelican external battery pack. I can travel from Seattle to DC and burn up my Pelican external back but leave the regular battery pretty much full.
However, if I am watching a movie and listening with my BT stereo headphones, my external battery is drained in about three hours.
Bottom line: I am happy with my 8Gb MD because I use it with an external power supply.
