I use the Eagletec adapter I picked up from a trip to Hong Kong a year ago:

I didn't do any thing special to get the transcend to work in the s2. I didn't test it out of the box in my S2, but I did try it in my axim x50v first with no problems. Then when I read the comment a few posts ago about the poor performance, I decided to investigate. I of course came across your link on storage card testing and how the format type affects speed.
So I formatted the card using sktools with the default settings but with no backup fat table. This resulted in a fat32 4k cluster format. Then I put it into my S2 and it came up right away showing I can store over 1000 photos. Then I took a few videos and was satisfied that it was working, though I didn't try to fill it up.
In what way does it not work in the s2 for you? Does it complain that it can't find the card or that it needs to be formatted? Were you using the exotic fat16 64k cluster format?
From my benchmarks, it looks like the x50v's nor rom is pretty speedy compared to the storage card interfaces. I'm curious how the x51v's nand rom would compare. Anybody got those results?
Thanks!
